Game Over, Man

Why did I watch this movie? Why oh why? It was a spoof of the Die Hard movies starring Adam Devine - who seems to be in every other Netflix project I have seen. His acting does not get any better. Nor was the acting very good all around. A trio of friends try to get funding for their inventions on the same night that terrorists take over the hotel they are working in. Hilarity (?) ensues. Lots of dead bodies. Lots of bad jokes. Only watch this if you are really really bored or really like Adam Devine. I am sure some people like him...

To The Bone

One night I decided not not watch my serials (Breaking Bad at the moment) and watch a couple of movies instead. This was the second I watched. I think it made it onto the list because of Lily Collins. Glad it made it to the list. A bit tough to watch at times - about hope is and anorexia. But overall, enjoyable. I wonder if it changed anyone’s trajectories. I hope so!

Gifted

I liked this movie a lot. It is a Preview Movie - starring Chris Evans (the person who plays Captain America in the MCU) and a little girl - I think in her first role. It will be interesting to see if she continues in the movies. Anyway, the girl is the guy’s niece. His sister died and left him with the child. She is a math prodigy, as was her mom and her grandmother. The man, Frank, is no slouch either intellectually. But he is trying to raise the girl as normally as possible. So he sends her to school, only to quickly find that gifted gets noticed. And not always in a good way. The evil grandmother reappears and tries for custody. Lots of tears and such as the movie progresses. All in all, very enjoyable, though. If you like any of the actors or stories about gifted people, this is a good movie to watch. A little sappy, but I love sappy movies!

Dr. Strange

I love Doctor Strange. I didn’t live Benedict Cumberbatch’s American Accent. Other than that, this movie is good fun. I saw it for the first time in 3D at an IMAX theatre. Well worth the experience! On the little screen it is still fun, just a bit less so. Great cast, great effects and a good representation of magic. Another good origin story from the MCU.

Thor

If you can’t tell, I am trying to help a couple of people catch up with Marvel Cinematic Universe movies before Infinity Wars comes to theatres. We aren’t going to make it because both people are way too busy. Oh well. I am enjoying what I am seeing again. I had forgotten most of the story of this, the Thor origin story. Well, of sorts. I would have to look and see if I could find the actual origin in the comics to see how well they did. In any case, this movie does a good job of introducing the MCU Thor, Asgard, and more about SHIELD. Natalie Portman was in this one, as Thor’s mortal love interest. I think she returns in the second, but is not in the Third. Oh well. MCU’s loss! Good fun!

The Incredible Hulk

Not a bad Hulk movie. I was never a huge (tee hee) Hulk fan. I think I only had his comics when they had something to do with some other series. I learned about him growing up through osmosis. This is a good origin story. It is too bad that Ed Norton and Liv Tyler didn’t continue with the Marvel Universe.

Iron Man 2

Not as good as the first, and not bad at the same time. More Tony Stark, but this time he is killing himself with his power supply - the thing that is keeping the metal shards from his heart. And the government is trying to take the iron man technology from him. Meanwhile, a crazy Russian is trying to kill Tony as well. And we get our first taste of Natasha Romanov! Scarlett Johansson as a bad ass! All in all, good fun!
